Near realtime maps of surface currents in the eastern half of the Mona Passage are now freely available. To access custom maps click on Currents, HF Radar Currents and select National HF Radar Network. These maps served by the University of California at San Diego, also show data for each vector point. Click any arrow and a window with detailed data on surface currents appears. The base map shows average currents over the last 25 hours but hourly maps can be accessed by de-selecting the 25 hour option. |
Surface Currents in the Mona Passage
Posted on Mon, 11/23/2009In collaboration with the “National Center for Secure & Resilient Maritime Commerce – CSR”, we have emplaced CODAR® HF Radio installations along the Mona Passage at Club Deportivo del Oeste in Joyuda and The PR Police FURA station at Añasco. Here we display initial results in an animation of hourly current patterns on October 21 2009. We expect to soon have operational displays of hourly surface current patterns available to our stakeholders through this page.
The following video shows a preview of the currents product that we will be soon be featuring (full screen view recomended).
