CariCOOS Data Buoy A was christened on June 8 during a ceremony on the docks at the port of Ponce and was deployed the following day at a site about 9 nautical miles from the port. Among other personalities, the mayor of Ponce and the First Lady of Puerto Rico (who christened the buoy) attended the ceremony. The video (voiceover in Spanish) shows highlights of the ceremony, interviews with NOAA and CariCOOS officials and actual footage at sea of the deployment operation. |
