   Data for "CariCOOS winds" is taken from 3 kinds of stations specifically designed to monitor coastal ocean weather. Seven "hurricane-hardened" meteorological stations operating in Puerto Rico and five in the US Virgin Islands are installed and maintained by WeatherFlow Inc. for CarICOOS through a cooperative agreement. The anemometers off Caja de Muertos Island to the south of Puerto Rico and San Juan to the north are installed aboard CarICOOS Data Buoys., The instrument at Cayo Media Luna off La Parguera is mounted aboard the ICON-CREWS station operated by NOAA-AOML.
